Wayne has been a professional land surveyor with Hancock Associates for over 25 years. He maintains a broad knowledge of the technical, legal and logistical aspects of managing all areas of surveying projects. He is responsible for overseeing boundary, topographic and hydrographic surveys, geodetic and photogrammetric projects as well as G.P.S. and construction layout services. Wayne supervises a staff of over 20 land surveyors trained and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, robotic and prismless laser equipment, software and G.P.S.

Scott has been with Hancock Associates for almost 30 years. He  became a Senior Vice President of the firm in 2020 and Director of Surveying in 2024. He is responsible for overseeing survey operations of the Danvers office and coordinates the collaboration of survey efforts among Hancock’s regional offices. In addition to his project management of surveys including boundary, construction, ALTA and GPS, he shares his expertise in technology as the leader of Hancock’s CAD Committee, oversees the firm’s IT department and archiving and data preservation and participates in day-to-day business decisions as a member of the Management team and the Board of Directors.

His long list of prominent and long-standing clients includes residential and commercial developers, municipalities, service utilities, MassDOT, hospitals and more throughout Hampden, Hampshire and Worcester counties and the surrounding areas. Lisa joined Hancock Associates’ Palmer, MA Division of Sherman & Frydryk in 2020 as a Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant and in 2023, she was promoted to Project Accountant. Lisa supports Project Managers with their accounts receivable needs, coordination of monthly billing, contract review, payment reconciliation and client communication.

Kathy has been with Hancock Associates since 2008. She started as a Survey Administrative Assistant and moved to Accounting in 2011. Kathy handles billing, accounts receivable and reviews new contracts. She also supports project managers in all offices with their accounts receivable needs, communicates regularly with clients regarding electronic payments, prepares account statements and handles general client inquiries.

Matt joined Hancock Associates in 2021 as a Project Accountant. In 2023, he transitioned to Collections Manager allowing him to tap into his over 10 years of experience in credit/accounts receivable experience garnered in both the hospitality and waste service industries. Matt supports our Project Managers with their accounts receivable needs including the management of all incoming client payments and the coordination of collections activities.

Archivist

Travis has been with Hancock Associates since 2016. He is responsible for maintaining Hancock’s collection of surveying records, some of which date back to the 1800s. Thanks to his efforts in digital preservation by scanning such records, and creating a searchable database in turn, project managers throughout Hancock’s network of offices are able to conduct in-house research with efficient evaluation.

1978 Hancock Associates

1978 – Frank Hancock, PLS, PE founds Hancock Survey Associates. His first hire is Donald Desmond. Hancock offers land surveying and civil engineering services to the local area of the North Shore and Essex County.

1984 – Don Desmond purchases Hancock Survey Associates from Frank Hancock and incorporates as Hancock Survey Associates, Inc.

1992 – After the economic downturn, Hancock undertakes aggressive diversification and growth plan incorporating new technology, expanding into a broader geographic service region and maturing into large, complex design and construction projects.

1998 - Hancock acquires assets of Carter & Towers Engineering Corp.

1998 – Hancock acquires the assets of Carter & Towers Engineering Corp. These assets expand the company’s archives to include land surveying records dating back to 1852.

2004 – Hancock moves into newly constructed office building at 185 Centre Street, Danvers, MA. Three additional Associates join Hancock, thus formally moving forward with the long-term plan for growth and stewardship. Hancock moves Bolton, MA office to Marlborough, MA due to successful growth.

2005 – Company acquires the assets of Pembroke Land Survey Company of Salem, NH and establishes branch office in Salem, NH. These assets include surveying records for southern NH, as well as Plum Island, MA.

2006 Hancock Associates - Connecticut

2006 – Hancock expands surveying services to Connecticut.

Andrysick land surveying

2013 – Hancock acquires the assets of both Acton Survey & Engineering, Inc. and Andrysick Land Surveying. These acquisitions include offices in Acton and Princeton, MA and expand Hancock’s geographic reach. Hancock continues stewardship plan with an additional Associate.

2015 – The Young Professionals Group is formed to enhance the professional growth of Hancock’s younger employees. Jason A. Ellis, PLS is appointed as the group’s first Moderator.

2020 – Hancock opens office in Concord, NH to provide exemplary land surveying and civil engineering services to land owners and developers in the Central New Hampshire region.

Atlas Land Surveying

2020 – Hancock acquires the assets of Land Surveys, Inc. of Brockton, Massachusetts adding their survey records and those from Atlas Land Surveying of Stoughton and Kenneth C. Heyward of Easton to Hancock’s vast historical survey records collection.

2021 – Hancock acquires Sherman & Frydryk, LLC, a land surveying and civil engineering firm located in Palmer, Massachusetts expanding Hancock’s services further into Western Massachusetts. This acquisition was successfully completed during the challenging times of the COVID-19 crisis.
