Community Efforts & The Danversport Explosion
In the aftermath and cleanup of the Danversport explosion of November 22, 2006 in Danvers, MA, the town called Hancock Associates to conduct an emergency survey of the first five condemned houses. The company was on-site in less than 24 hours. The first task was to locate the houses prior to their demolition so that their "footprint" location could be preserved for future reconstruction of the dwellings.
As part of its belief in serving its community, Hancock conducted these services "pro bono" in conjunction with the Town, who waived permitting fees for the most severely impacted residents. Town Manager Wayne Marquis recognized Hancock's support at the Selectmen's Meeting on March 20th.
Additionally, in conjunction with the Rotary Club, Hancock contributed a donation to the New England Home for the Deaf, an adult living facility that was rendered inhabitable.
Beyond its Danvers business location, many Hancock Associates staff live in or grew up in Danvers. As invested members of its community, it was the company's privilege to have been a part of the great effort that resulted from such a devastating event.
