Comfort Kitchen
Project Overview
Hancock Associates provided civil engineering services to support the nonprofit Historic Boston Incorporated in the restoration and rehabilitation of Upham’s Comfort Station, an abandoned public restroom originally built in 1912 to serve Dorchester’s former streetcar railway system. Once a forgotten piece of local history, the historic structure has been transformed into Comfort Kitchen, a vibrant restaurant celebrating global cuisine and community. The restoration earned recognition from the Boston Preservation Alliance, while Comfort Kitchen was named to The New York Times’ list of “50 Restaurants We’re Most Excited About Right Now.”
